beautiful home on the Pegram Plantation
Lecompe, Louisiana. It was built in 1862 by
Dr. John Hardy, a surgeon from North Carolina
who came to Lecompte during the civil war. His sister

I'm really enjoying these small landscapes..What can you tell us about this 'Chickamaw Pasture'?
Chickamaw is a beautiful home on the Pegram Plantation. It was built in 1862 by Dr. John Hardy during the civil war. Dr Hardy's sister inherited his home and she married a Pegram. It is now owned by Our District Attorney, James Downs and his wife Maureen.
I really do like this landscape. Did you do it plein air? I love to paint at a nearby Civil War plantation house because there is so much texture and color.
Thank you bj.
No, I painted it from a photo. I don't paint well in plein air. I seem to want to put the whole world in the painting. Did you notice that I linked your blog to mine?
Terrific piece Wanda. Wonderful lighting and textures. Makes me wish I had done more painting when I was up at Fort Ticonderoga last week!
Best,
Cooper
